Life hacks i learned in quarantine
Hello Lovelies!
Like most of us, I had a lot of extra time on my hands during quarantine. If you’re like me, you probably found a lot of projects around the house to keep you busy. I turned to YouTube for help with my DIY kitchen and bathroom makeovers and in the process, I found a few simple life hacks that really work!
These are totally random. Try them. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
***Please note: I am not an expert on any of these subjects. Use your best judgement.
*** FRESH TOMATO ON YOUR FACE – I know it sounds crazy. I tried this and my complexion was brighter after one use. My skin felt softer. After a few days, I noticed fine lines were disappearing along with dark spots. **Bonus- Potatoes are good for acne.
METHOD: Slice a tomato and rub the seeded side on your face. This can be a little messy, but the messier the better. Let all the tomato juice run out. I typically left this “mask” on for 1 -2hrs. Once, I forgot and slept in it. No harm done.
WARNING: Tomatoes are acidic. Avoid the delicate tissue around your eyes. If you have dry skin, use sparingly.
*** LIGHTING CANDLES – I love candles. I ran out of matches and I don’t smoke, so I didn’t have a lighter. I used the stove and an uncooked strand of spaghetti. Worked perfectly!
*** ICED COFFEE - One of my few vices….Coffee! If I don’t have one cup a day, I get the dreaded coffee headache. At one point, it was too hot to drink hot coffee. I opted to make my own iced coffee. At first, I used regular water ice cubes, but I found that watered down the coffee. So, I made coffee cubes. METHOD: Pour coffee into a regular ice tray. Freeze. Add frozen cubes to regular coffee. No more watered-down coffee!
***CREDIT CARDS / CREDIT SCORE – This hack is especially useful if you have rewards attached to your credit card spending. I did this for 3 months and saw and increase of 28 points to my credit score.
- Keep your credit balance below 30% of your limit
- Use your credit card for all purchases possible including monthly bills (Cell phone, utilities…etc)
- Make your payment in 2 transactions. One 2 weeks before due date and another by the due date
*** This may appear to be unusual. I was always taught not to use credit unless absolutely necessary. That’s not how you build credit or increase your spending limits.
*** The card company wants you to use your credit – Just use it wisely.
*** Consider this. You are going to pay your $60 cell phone bill with cash. Once you pay the bill, the cash is gone. If you pay it with your credit card, you’ll pay the credit card with the same cash, but because credit is revolving – you retain access to the $60.
*** Regular payments and smart usage will tell the credit card company you are reliable, you can either request balance increases or they will automatically issue one. This will also increase your 30% allowable balance.
I know…this hack may need to be reread a few times. A good Queen is good with money. Do the work. Reap the benefits.
