Queen status’ 10 commandments

1. Thou Shall Not Wear Thy Braids Past Their Time – Somebody has to say it.  There are far too many of us wearing old, unsightly braids.  Most braids should be taken out after 4 – 6 weeks.  That’s box braids.  Cornbraids may not last as long.  Adjust your crown Queen.

2. Thou Shall Not Covet – Being envious often leads to feelings of inadequacy, which is a completely useless emotion.  If someone has something that you desire; applaud them for it, then go get your own, in your own way, on your own terms.

3. Thou Shall Not Be a Hater – Speak life.  Encourage other people. Try not to judge.  This is a hard one for me.  I tend to be judgmental, but I’m growing.  I’m a work in progress.

4. Thou Shall Mind Thy Credit – Pay your bills on time.  Build your credit.  This is the secret to wealth.

5. Thou Shall Treat Thyself – Once you’ve paid your bills and taken care of your responsibilities, treat yourself.  It doesn’t have to be daily, but occasionally, you need to treat yourself to something nice.  It needs to be something you absolutely DO NOT need.  An extravagance. An unnecessary pleasure. Something that will make you smile and feel good.

6. Thou Shall Not Wear Bad Shoes – By bad I mean too tight, too big, too small, overturned, uncomfortable or over worn.  You’ve got to take care of your feet.  Wearing bad shoes will cause bunions, corns and other ailments.  Your feet play a big part in your overall health.

7. Thou Shall Have thy Own Style – Be unapologetically YOU!  I love big hair and oversized clothing. I’ll wear feathers in my hair and a ballgown to Church. You should be comfortable with what you like. You’re allowed to express yourself. Your spirit will soar in that freedom.

8. Thou Shall Moisturize - Drink water.  Take care of your skin.  No amount of makeup can be better than healthy skin.  Hydrate from the inside out. Exfoliate and moisturize your skin.  External moisturization will help you maintain a youthful appearance. Internal hydration will maintain your organs.

9. Thou Shall Laugh – Enjoy life!  “Laughter is medicine” is not a cliché.  A positive attitude and laughter will take you far.  Allow yourself to be silly.  Laugh at yourself.

10. Thou Shall Eat Well – A poor diet is the root of many evils.  If you want to look good and feel good, you can’t live on junk food.  Junk food isn’t just fast food.  You may want to consider cutting back on processed foods, fried foods and sugars.  Even eliminating a small portion of those foods from your diet can make a big difference in your appearance and health.

BONUS COMMANDMENT: Thou Shall Not Try Me - Whew Chile!  Folk will come for you, won’t they?  Don’t let the haters win.  Keep your head up. Do right by others. Keep smiling. Keep pushing. Don’t EVER give up.  Haters usually don’t have much going on for themselves, that’s why they’re so busy hating on you.  Clip the leaves off the shade, wish them well, leave them in their misery and go live your life. This one was too easy. We have the tee!!  Go get it on our accessories page.  😊  (Shameless plug)
